Hey friends! Welcome to my website!
My name is John, and I write songs.
Having been a songwriter for the last six years or so, I have had my fair share of opportunities to tell all kinds of stories about life’s wonderful and crazy adventures. However, I’ve never quite got the hang of writing about myself in a biographical sense, so for your sake and mine, I asked a good friend and fellow songwriter to tell you a little about me and my music. So without further ado, here is everything you need to know about John Brazell, as told by Tyler Madsen:
“Living with John was like living with a jukebox.
In the living room, on the front porch, from his bedroom, from the bathroom even, music was everywhere. When he’s not playing his own songs, he’s playing someone else’s. When he’s not playing, he’s listening, and when he’s not listening, he’s reading up on whichever songwriter has caught his attention as of late. The guy lives and breathes music unlike anyone I’ve ever met. He’s a perpetual student, an uninhibited dreamer, and a hopeless romantic.
Being in such close proximity to John while living together, I was honored to witness that imagination at work in a way that few people get to see. As a songwriter, I jump at any chance to study other writers in their process in an effort to hone in my own method, and what I can tell you about John’s process is that it is authentic from start to finish. He wears his songs on his sleeve, and his are songs you can relate to. We’ve all been there, including John, and he’s got the songs to prove it.
Songwriting aside, if you’ve ever been granted the privilege of seeing John live, you know that the stage is truly his happy place. Yes, he writes great songs. Yes he’s an amazing musician. But it’s the live experience that makes John the most relatable, fun, and unstoppably heartwarming songwriter I’ve ever met. If you sit through an entire show with John without breaking out in laughter at least once, I would not hesitate in saying that there is something wrong with you and that you should be worried about your condition as a human. In a sea of indistinguishable singer/songwriters who take themselves far too seriously, a John Brazell performance is a humble and light-hearted change of pace that is willing to improvise and take risks if a laugh is on the line.
In the end, it’s true that John is my friend, and it’s true that I’m biased, but it’s also true that his music is just really fun and is good enough to stand on its own without a recommendation from me or anyone else. So please, do yourself a favor…buy John’s music, see him live, and thank me later.
Till then, enjoy this site and keep listening.”
